Summer is a fleeting but wonderful season, especially in Canada! That means you need to soak up every last drop of it before it vanishes into thin air, swept up in a flurry of fallen leaves and pumpkin spice lattes. To help you make the most of this city and the warm September weather, here are the best Winnipeg patios to visit. We hope you get out there and enjoy them while it's still warm out.
Cibo Waterfront Cafe
Cibo Waterfront Cafe is top of our list of great Winnipeg patios to visit. It's located at 339 Waterfront Drive within a repurposed industrial building on the bank of the Red River. Its urban riverfront views are unmatched and the food is good, too! Expect Italian classics like chicken parmigiana pasta, house-made personal pizzas and caesar and greek salads. To drink they offer a large assortment of red and white wine by the bottle and glass, imported and local beer and a long list of summer-appropriate cocktails like their Peach Bourbon Arnold Palmer. It's also only a short 6-minute drive from The Arts Residences! Don't miss out on this one!
Stella's on Pembina
We love to visit Stella's on Pembina (1463 Pembina Hwy) for a delicious all day breakfast, hearty lunch or delicious dinner on a great rooftop patio. Possibly the biggest selling point for Stella's is how vegetarian and vegan-friendly its menu is. That means you can take almost anyone here – regardless of their dietary restrictions. Expect options like Tofu Scrambles and fruity green smoothies for breakfast. If you're not veggie, they've still got you covered with classic breakfast plates of bacon and eggs, baked eggs, hash, waffles and more. They also offer an enormous list of omnivore and veggie-friendly sandwiches, burgers, curries, pastas, desserts and more. This might be your new favourite place! They're also a bakery, so don't leave without a loaf of sourdough bread or some freshly baked cinnamon rolls! This establishment is just a 15-minute drive from The Arts Residences.
Bar Italia
If you love the idea of dining on global fare on a bustling sidewalk patio, then Bar Italia (737 Corydon Ave.) is for you. There aren't many places where you can order lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) and nachos at the same time! Think of Bar Italia as a bit of a tour around the world on your plate! It's also a hotspot for cool cocktails and specialty coffees. Expect big portions and big fun. It's only an 8-minute drive from The Arts Residences!
Chaise Cafe & Lounge
It's been a year of distancing and now it's time to gather together. Chaise Cafe & Lounge (271 Provencher Blvd) wants you to do it on their beautiful and plant-iful patio! In fact they specialize in family-style prix fixe dining (unlimited salads, apps, pastas and pizzas) and private parties. You can, of course, order their delicious Italian fare a la carte if need be, and they can accommodate dietary restrictions like vegan and gluten free for a small fee. This restaurant is a great spot for prix fixe brunch, too! Pop by this weekend, it's only a 7-minute drive from The Arts Residences.
Tavern United
If classic pub grub like nachos, burgers, wings and fries on a rooftop patio sounds like your idea of heaven, Tavern United Downtown is for you. Whether you're craving a smash burger or a buffalo chicken poutine, they've got hearty pub comfort food down to a science. They also offer great group and family order deals so be sure to see what specials are available before you order. Best of all it's only a 3-minute drive from The Arts Residences or a 4-minute walk!
We hope you make it out to one, or all, of these fabulous Winnipeg patios this September to keep summer going full blast till the bitter end.
